source: facebook.com/thebigshortmovie.uk The Big Short was the film I was most excited to see at the beginning of this year’s awards season. The cast was incredible – Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, Brad Pitt all together? I’m in. And the story seemed like one that was absolutely worth telling. After hearing about it some more, although I was still excited to watch it, I was also nervous: this is, in its core, a story of people making money off what caused the global economic crisis that threw my country (as well as several others) into the shit. The Big Short is…

Le Livre des Baltimore is the latest book by Joël Dicker, who has officially become my current favourite author – this is the third of his books that I’ve read and absolutely loved. In this novel we meet up with Marcus Goldman, the narrator and author of The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, who takes us through the story of his family with all the usual ups and downs families go through, while always alluding to a mysterious (and tragic) event which deeply marked his life/their lives. My seventh and last day in New York was spent exploring the Upper West Side – I had an idea of it being a really interesting part of town from the movie You’ve Got Mail which is mostly set there, and had been really excited to see it! First stop: breakfast at Sarabeth’s. The most delicious pancakes I have ever tasted, and such a nice, cosy restaurant. If you’re in the area, do check it out! Then it was off to Zabar’s, one of the most famous grocery stores in NYC – it is an institution as it’s been there…

Walking along the Brooklyn Bridge and exploring Brooklyn/Williamsburg was the original plan for day 6 – but before I headed to the other side of the river, I made a quick stop for breakfast at Egg Shop, which was recommended in Kate’s post. I had the Benedict cruiser and it was the most delicious thing ever. Totally worth the visit! The experience of walking the Brooklyn Bridge was fantastic, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture and the view from the bridge back to Manhattan is incredible! I spent a lot of time in the Brooklyn Bridge Park just sitting down…

My fifth day in NYC was very exciting as I spent it around Soho and The Village exploring really cool shops and sights, including buildings that were used as exterior shots for my all time favourite TV Show, Friends. Another highlight was the appointment at Bite Beauty Lab, where I got to make my personalised lipstick – really cool, and very recommended if you like makeup! O meu quinto dia em Nova Iorque foi excelente – passei o dia a passear pelo Soho e pela Village, a explorar lojas muito giras e a ver sítios muito giros, incluíndo os prédios…
