Records and Rebels at the V&A

Growing up, I was surrounded by the spirit of the 60s – my parents and godmother, the biggest influences in my life, grew up in that era, so I grew up listening to Portuguese revolutionary songs along with classic lullabies. I’ve been listening to The Beatles ever since I can remember, my peace sign necklace is my most prized possession, Bob Dylan’s songs move me to tears and Herman Hesse’s Siddharta was the book that made the biggest mark on me as a teenager. For years, all I wanted was to travel in time and live in the 60s, wear…

The Collection on Amazon

As much as I am a fan of binge watching shows I already know and love (‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’…), I really enjoy discovering new series to follow. Amazon had me at ‘Mozart in the Jungle’ which is absolutely brilliant, and now caught my attention again with ‘The Collection’! I knew there was a big French influence around the area as I had already visited the Institut Français, where years ago I attended a Ciné Lumiére special screening of Mathieu Kassovitz’ film Rebellion. This time, though, my goal was to find and try two patisseries I’d…

Hello September!

I often still find myself craving a reset around the start of September. There was a post last week on Career Girl Daily about how September is the best month to set goals – and that really rang a bell! Just a couple of weeks back I had been discussing with my Mom that I still have that ‘back-to-school’ mindset of starting over, even though it’s been longer than I care to think about since I last went back to school. To me, it makes much more sense to create goals, or resolutions if you will, around September because you can actually…

Stranger Things – believe the hype!

source: facebook.com/strangerthingstv Stranger Things had been on my radar ever since it came out on Netflix, as it generated a lot of hype and comparisons to classic 80s movies that are among my all time favourites straight away – I mean, even the poster for it is kind of a throwback to original Star Wars! After seeing a couple of snaps and a post from Daphné about it, I decided to give it a chance while on holiday, and boy am I glad I did!! A série Stranger Things surgiu no meu radar pouco depois de ter sido lançada no Netflix, já…
