To me, there’s nothing that screams Autumn more than a bit of Academia aesthetics. So when Locke Hotels invited me to stay at their Cambridge location to celebrate Autumn in this beautiful, historic University town, my eyes lit up – it’s the perfect place!
Locke Hotels offer beautifully designed studios in several locations across the UK (and beyond!) for short or long term accommodations, giving you all the comforts of being in your own home.
The Cambridge hotel, Turing Locke, is named after Alan Turing, the Cambridge professor who helped crack Enigma in WWII and is credited as being the Father of Computing, and it is located in the Eddington area. Around the hotel there are lots of new builds, it all looks very modern and cool, a nice contrast vs the classic style of central Cambridge.
Nearby there is a supermarket for any supplies you might need, there are coffee shops, cocktail bars and restaurants and a very convenient bus which can get you into town in around 15 minutes (they go every 15/20 minutes).
I stayed in a One Bedroom Suite – a beautiful space that has a separate living and sleeping area, both beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable! And to top it off, my beautiful suite also had a stunning terrace, with comfortable chairs and lots of plants, my very own oasis without even having to leave.
Locke also offers a co-working space, and in Turing Locke this is located in the ground floor, just by the reception area. The area is really inviting, with cosy sofas and ambient lighting that’s just right to sit on your computer and do your thing.
And of course, it also has meeting rooms and a gym for guests to use during their stay.
I arrived at the hotel bright and early on a particularly Autumnal Saturday: sunny but quite chilly! In a stroke of luck, my room was ready when I arrived, so I could spend some time exploring the space (and taking lots of photos & videos!), before getting the bus and heading to town for a wander.
After my wander, which I will talk more about in a separate post, I took the bus and came back to the hotel – the day was getting quite cold at this point, so it felt nice to head back to my room and sit down with a cup of warm tea for a bit.
I then decided to make the most of the spaces in and around Turing Locke. Laptop in hand, I made my way to KOTA, the restaurant nearby, to have a quick bite to eat, and get a coffee to bring back to the co-working space where I sat working on my posts.
It was my first time in a co-working space, and I have to say I really loved it! It felt inspiring and motivating to sit somewhere and just dedicate time to editing and writing! I even made sure I had plenty of time after check-out to sit and work again, it honestly is a life changer.
I worked a bit more in the room and in the evening popped down to Dutch, Turing Locke’s cocktail bar, for a drink and some food – I had the pineapple caipirinha which I would definitely recommend, it was delicious! After a day of travelling and exploring, it’s so convenient to have this space in the hotel! Of course, I could have cooked in my room as well, but I was on holiday!
After this I went back up and got comfy and cosy, getting ready for a much needed night of rest. And rest I did, the bed was so comfortable I slept better than I had in ages!
In the morning, I popped around the corner to Dulcedo for a breakfast of a latte and a cherry bakewell crumble – the best start to the day, if you ask me! And then it was time for a bit more exploring of a Cambridge that was quiet, but busy with parents and students getting installed at the various colleges – back to school season really is here!
After a bit more time at Turing Locke’s co-working space, I packed up, got the bus, and headed back to the station.
It was the perfect weekend and the perfect start to Autumn – thank you Turing Locke for having me!

Para mim, não há nada mais Outonal que o estilo que já se tornou conhecido (em Inglês) por “Academia”. Então, quando a Locke Hotels me convidou para uma estadia em Cambridge para comemorar o Outono naquela histórica cidade universitária, até os meus olhos brilharam – é o lugar perfeito!
Os hotéis Locke têm quartos em estilo estúdio/T0 em vários locais do Reino Unido (e mais além!) para estadias de curto ou longo prazo, com todo o conforto de estar em casa.
O hotel de Cambridge, Turing Locke, tem o nome de Alan Turing, o professor de Cambridge que ajudou a decifrar a Enigma na Segunda Guerra Mundial e é conhecido como o Pai da Computação, e fica na zona de Eddington. À volta do hotel há muitas construções novas, tudo muito moderno e giro, um bom contraste com o estilo clássico do centro de Cambridge.
Nas redondezas há um supermercado, cafés, bares e restaurantes e um autocarro muito conveniente que leva ao centro da cidade em cerca de 15 minutos (passam a cada 15/20 minutos).
Fiquei numa suite de um quarto – um espaço lindo que tem áreas de estar e de dormir separadas, ambas super bem desenhadas e incrivelmente confortáveis! E ainda por cima, a minha suite tinha ainda um terraço lindo, com cadeiras confortáveis e muitas plantas, um verdadeiro mini oásis!
Os hotéis Locke também oferecem espaços de co-working, que no Turing Locke está localizado no rés-do-chão, ao lado da recepção. A zona é convidativa, com sofás aconchegantes e iluminação ambiente perfeita para uma pessoa se sentar no computador e trabalhar.
E, claro, também tem salas de reuniões e um ginásio para os hóspedes utilizarem durante a sua estadia.
Cheguei ao hotel bem cedo num sábado particularmente outonal: com sol, mas bastante frio! Por sorte, o meu quarto estava pronto quando cheguei, e pude passar algum tempo a explorar o espaço (e a tirar muitas fotos e vídeos!), antes de apanhar o autocarro e seguir para o centro para passear.
Depois do meu passeio, sobre o qual falarei mais num post separado, voltei para o hotel de autocarro – o dia estava a ficar frio, e soube bem voltar para o meu quarto e sentar-me com uma chávena de chá quente.
Decidi então aproveitar ao máximo os espaços dentro e ao redor de Turing Locke. De laptop na mão, fui até ao KOTA, o restaurante ali perto, para comer algo rápido e comprar um café para levar de volta ao espaço de coworking onde me instalei para trabalhar nos meus futuros posts.
Foi minha primeira vez num espaço de coworking e devo dizer que adorei! Senti-me mesmo inspirada e motivada por me sentar num espaço agradável e dedicar tempo apenas a editar fotografias e escrever! Até quis ter tempo depois do check-out no dia seguinte para trabalhar ali novamente. A sério, é um mundo novo!
Ainda trabalhei um pouco mais no quarto e à noite fui ao Dutch, o bar do Turing Locke, para tomar um cocktail e comer alguma coisa – escolhi a caipirinha de ananás que era uma delícia! Depois de um dia a viajar e explorar, é tão conveniente ter um espaço assim no hotel! Podia também ter cozinhado no quarto, mas férias são férias, certo?
Depois do jantar, voltei para o quarto e pus-me à vontade, para me preparar para uma noite de descanso que era mesmo bem-vinda. E bem que descansei! A cama era tão confortável, dormi como não dormia há imenso tempo.
De manhã, visitei a Dulcedo, uma padaria e pastelaria incrível super perto do hotel. Tomei o pequeno-almoço, café com leite e um crumble de cereja e foi a melhor maneira de começar o dia! E então chegou a hora de explorar um pouco mais uma Cambridge que estava calma, mas com pais e alunos que se iam instalando nas várias faculdades – o regresso às aulas estava mesmo a chegar!
Depois de um pouco mais de tempo no espaço de coworking do Turing Locke, fiz as malas, apanhei o autocarro e voltei para a estação.
Foi o fim de semana perfeito e a melhor maneira de começar o Outono – obrigada Turing Locke pelo convite!
