It’s been a while since I’ve done a little round up of things I’ve been enjoying, so I thought I’d do that today – starting with series.
The Right Stuff, Disney+
If you’re interested in the Space Race and like movies such as Apollo 13 and Hidden Figures, you will very likely enjoy this Disney+ series. Following the Mercury Seven – the first men selected for NASA’s Manned Space Programme, the series touches on the astronauts’ personalities, what drove them, their family drama and personal demons. It’s got a great cast, and is really fun to watch!
Bridgerton, Netflix
Gossip Girl meets Jane Austen in this brilliant first project from Shondaland for Netflix. The cast is diverse and amazing, the sets and ambiance are lovely – and there are some brilliant characters in there (especially Pen and Eloise). It does have some hot and steamy scenes though, so be warned – not one to watch with the parents.
WandaVision, Disney+
I’ve never been too into the Marvel series we’ve had in the past (Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD, etc) but somehow WandaVision has gripped me right from the start. Maybe it’s because of the three sitcom-style first episodes with only hints of what was actually happening, maybe it was that I really like Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda since Infinity War and Endgame. But the fact is that by episode 4, this show had me like “ooooh this is GOOD!” and now I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Lupin, Netflix
Lupin is a French which follows Assane, whose father was wrongfully accused of stealing a necklace previously owned by Marie Antoinette, as he looks for justice, while conducting heists inspired by the stories of Arsene Lupin, the Gentleman Robber. It stars the incredible Omar Sy and is really well made & very clever. Plus it’s a great way to travel to Paris without leaving your home!

Já se passou algum tempo desde que fiz um resumo de coisas das quais tenho estado a gostar, por isso pensei fazer isso hoje – começando com séries.
The Right Stuff, Disney+
Se tiverem interesse na Corrida ao Espaço e gostarem de filmes tipo Apollo 13 e Hidden Figures, vão certamente gostar desta série do Disney+. A série segue os Mercury Seven – os primeiros seleccionados para o Programa Espacial Tripulado da NASA – e mostra a personalidade dos astronautas, o que os motivava, os dramas familiares e demónios interiores. Tem um óptimo elenco e vê-se muito bem!

Este primeiro projecto da Shondaland para o Netflix é uma mistura de Gossip Girl com Jane Austen. O elenco é diversificado e incrível, os cenários e o ambiente são lindos – e tem personagens incríveis (especialmente a Pen e a Eloise). Tem algumas cenas mais intensas, por isso ficam avisados – não é uma série que se veja com os pais.
WandaVision, Disney+
Nunca gostei muito das séries da Marvel que tivemos no passado (tipo Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD, etc), mas não sei como a WandaVision agarrou-me logo de início. Talvez seja pelos três primeiros episódios ao estilo de sitcom com meras pistas do que podia estar realmente a acontecer, talvez seja porque gosto imenso da Wanda de Elizabeth Olsen desde os filmes Infinity War e Endgame. Mas o que é facto é que, no episódio 4 a série já me tinha a pensar “ooooh isto é BOM!” e agora estou em pulgas para saber o que acontece a seguir.

Lupin é uma série francesa que segue a história de Assane, cujo pai foi falsamente acusado de roubar um colar que tinha pertencido a Marie Antoinette, que procura justiça ao conduzir assaltos inspirados pelas histórias de Arsene Lupin, o Cavalheiro Ladrão. Tem como actor principal o incrível Omar Sy e é uma série super bem feita & inteligente. Para além de ser uma óptima forma de ver Paris sem sair de casa!
