Ever since I picked up my first Famous Five book as a child, I have always loved to read. Getting lost in great stories has inspired me, taught me, moved me, and provided escapism from daily stress. It’s a perfect refuge for me.
Desde que peguei no meu primeiro livro d’Os Cinco quando era miúda que adoro ler. Perder-me em óptimas histórias inspirou-me, ensinou/me, comoveu-me e deu-me a possibilidade de fugir ao stress do quotidiano. É um refúgio perfeito, para mim.
Or it was, until the pandemic took over our lives and we began a year of lockdowns and restrictions. Although I’ve been very lucky to be able to work from home, have a roof over my head, food on the table and even to spend time at home with my parents, the whole situation still messed with my mental health and so it became really really hard for me to focus on books – with the exceptions of Joël Dicker’s L’Enigme de la Chambre 622 and Alice Hoffman’s Magic Lessons which I read gladly and eagerly, I barely finished a book since March 2020.
Ou era, até a pandemia ter tomado conta das nossas vidas e termos começado um ano de confinamentos e restrições. Apesar de ter imensa sorte de poder trabalhar de casa, de ter uma casa e comida na mesa e até de passar mais tempo em casa com os meus pais, a situação toda mexeu com a minha cabeça e tornou-se mesmo difícil de me concentrar em livros – com as excepções d’O Enigma do Quarto 622 de Joel Dicker e de Magic Lessons de Alice Hoffman, que devorei feliz, foram poucos os livros que acabei desde Março de 2020.
But I really want to carve some time in my days to read, even if just a few pages. So I’m putting together a list of books I’m excited to get into. Whether I finish them or not is another issue! So here we go.
Mas quero mesmo dedicar mais tempo à leitura, mesmo que sejam só umas páginas. Por isso estou a criar uma lista de livros que quero muito ler. Se os consigo acabar é outra história! Aqui fica a minha lista.

I saw this advertised in a French magazine and was immediately drawn to the story of the American Library in Paris during WWII. I couldn’t find the English version online so currently reading in French – and really loving the story!
Vi este livro anunciado numa revista Francesa e fiquei logo intrigada pela história da Biblioteca Americana em Paris durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. A versão em inglês não estava disponível em lado nenhum on-line, então estou a ler em Francês – e a adorar a história!

I’ve loved everything I’ve ready by TJR so I didn’t even need to know what it was about to put it on my list. But the promise of an 80s setting in California, family drama & a dramatic unfolding of everything come together has me itching to read it!
Adoro tudo o que já li da TJR por isso nem precisei de saber do que tratava este livro para o adicionar à lista. Mas a promessa de um cenário anos 80 na Califórnia, drama familiar & um desfecho dramático deixa-me em pulgas para ler!
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels, India Holton
I came across this book while looking for books that were being published in 2021 and thought it sounded like such a fun premise! The description online reads: “A prim and proper lady thief must save her aunt from a crazed pirate and his dangerously charming henchman in this fantastical historical romance.” Sounds like fun, don’t you think?
Descobri este livro enquanto procurava livros que fossem publicados em 2021 e achei uma história tão divertida! A descrição online diz: “Uma ladra elegante e bem-comportada tem de salvar a sua tia de um pirata enlouquecido e do seu ajudante perigosamente charmoso neste romance histórico fantástico.” Parece divertido, não acham?
While we were dating, Jasmine Guillory
I’ve read a few books by Jasmine Guillory that I really enjoyed (The Proposal being my favourite) – so when I saw she had another book being released in 2021, it immediately went on my list! This one is set in Hollywood and sounds like it provides the perfect dose of escapism I am definitely craving these days.
Já li alguns livros da Jasmine Guillory que gostei (The Proposal foi o meu preferido) – por isso quando vi que ia publicar outro livro em 2021, foi logo para a minha lista! Este passa-se em Hollywood e parece ser a dose ideal de escapismo – de que eu bem preciso hoje em dia.
