I don’t remember the first time I heard of Mistu in Porto, but I know I tried going there for the past couple of years on my Summer trip to the city, with no luck.
Não me lembro de quando ouvi falar pela primeira vez do restaurante Mistu no Porto, mas sei que já tinha tentado lá ir nas minhas visitas ao Porto nos últimos dois anos, sem sucesso.
This year, I was so set on visiting it finally that I booked my dinner at the restaurant before I even booked my hotel or train to get there! But I’m so glad I did!
Este ano, para compensar, fiz a reserva para o jantar antes de ter marcado o hotel ou o comboio para lá chegar! Mas ainda bem que o fiz!
The restaurant is located on a quiet and unassuming street near the Palácio da Bolsa – close to the main attractions but far enough away so it’s not crazy busy.
O restaurante fica numa rua calma e despretensiosa perto do Palácio da Bolsa – perto dos sítios de interesse, mas longe o suficiente para não ter tanta gente.
It’s only open for dinners and reservations (I can tell you from experience) are definitely needed.
Só está aberto para jantar e as reservas (como vos digo de experiência própria) são mesmo necessárias.
The first thing you’ll notice about Mistu is the gorgeous space – the huge windows providing beautiful evening light, the simple yet beautiful mosaic floors, the marble tables & Parisian chairs…it’s a photographer’s dream!
A primeira coisa que irão notar no Mistu é o espaço girissimo – as enormes janelas que cobrem a sala principal de luz natural, o chão de azulejo simples mas lindo, as mesas de mármore e cadeiras de estilo parisiense…é o sonho de um fotográfo!
But going in, there’s so much more! The staff is the loveliest I’ve ever encountered – they’re kind and friendly, and always ready to make suggestions if you need them.
Mas é muito mais que isso! Os funcionários do Mistu são dos mais simpáticos que tenho encontrado – são gentis e simpáticos e sempre prontos a fazer sugestões se forem precisas.
Both dishes I tried were absolutely divine, and both were recommended by (truly lovely) staff members.
Os dois pratos que pedi estavam divinais e ambos foram recomendados por funcionários verdadeiramente simpáticos.
My main was the Sea bass with asparagus and mushroom and truffle tortelloni – an unexpected mix that works beautifully. Everything was so fresh and full of flavour, I loved every bite.
O prato principal foi a tranche de robalo com espargos e tortelloni e cogumelo e trufa – uma mistura inesperada que funciona super bem. Era tudo tão fresco e saboroso, adorei cada bocadinho.
For dessert, I tried the Dulce de Leche Fondant with raspberry sorbet & red berry cold soup. Oh. my. Lord. It was INSANE. The dulce de leche sweetness was perfectly balanced by the tartness of the berries and the ice cream with the warm fondant…well it’s a match made in sweet-tooth-foodie heaven.
Para a sobremesa, pedi o Fondant de Dulce de leche com sorvete de framboesa e sopa fria de frutos vermelhos. Oh. Meu. Deus. Era INCRÍVEL. O doce do Dulce de leche era contrabalançado com a acidez dos frutos vermelhos e o gelado com o fondant quente…bem, era uma combinação dos deuses.
In the current situation, Mistu is also obviously taking all precautions to keep staff and clients safe – keeping a safe distance between the tables & having everyone wear masks (unless they’re at the table eating).
Na situação actual, o Mistu está claramente a tomar todas as precauções para manter os funcionários e os clientes seguros – mantendo uma distância segura entre as mesas & assegurando-se que toda a gente usa máscara (a menos que estejam na mesa a comer).
It felt very safe to dine at Mistu and I was glad to support a restaurant that is clearly so passionate about delicious food.
Senti-me muito segura a jantar no Mistu e fiquei contente de poder apoiar um restaurante que é claramente apaixonado por comida deliciosa.
