IWD 2020

Today is International Women’s Day and it has become a bit of a tradition here on Alfacinha Stories to mark this day with a dedicated post.

Hoje é o Dia Internacional da Mulher e já se tornou uma tradição aqui no Alfacinha Stories comemorar este dia com um post especial.

IWD has been celebrated since all the way back in 1911 (where it counted the support of around a million people) and seen a lot of positive changes over time – but there’s still so much to be done, for equality, women’s rights, women’s safety.

O Dia Internacional da Mulher já vem sendo celebrado desde 1911 (onde contou com o apoio de cerca de 1 milhão de pessoas), assistindo a várias mudanças positivas ao longo dos anos – mas ainda há tanta coisa por fazer, pela igualdade, pelos direitos das Mulheres, pela segurança das Mulheres.

It is crucial to keep highlighting the issues faced by women in society, be it in terms of salary, or how we’re treated and judged differently, which often puts our safety and health at risk.

É importante continuar a salientar as questões que as mulheres ainda enfrentam na sociedade, seja no que toca aos salários, ou como somos tratadas e julgadas de forma diferente, o que põe a nossa segurança e a nossa saúde em risco.

Celebrate women who shaped me as a person, who give me strength and support, and who inspire me to be better and work harder everyday.

Celebrar as mulheres que me tornaram a mulher que sou hoje, que me dão força e apoio, e que me inspiram a ser melhor e trabalhar mais todos os dias.

The women in my family – who were always true to themselves and taught me the importance of being myself, and sticking to my beliefs and principles, all through my life.

Às mulheres da minha família – que sempre foram fiéis a si mesmas e me ensinaram a importância de ser eu mesma e lutar pelos meus princípios e por aquilo em que acredito, a minha vida inteira.

The teachers and bosses – who passed on their knowledge and taught me not just about a specific subject or work topic, but how to command attention and lead people.

Às professoras e chefes – que passaram o seu conhecimento não só sobre uma matéria ou questão de trabalho específicas, mas também sobre como prender a atenção e liderar um grupo.

The online creators – who share their creativity daily, evolving along with their art. The inspiration comes daily and really drives me to experiment more and put myself out there with photography and blogging.

Às criadoras digitais – que partilham a sua criatividade diariamente, evoluindo em conjunto com a sua arte. A inspiração chega diariamente e dá-me imensa vontade de experimentar e arriscar mais com a minha fotografia e o meu blog.

To my friends – who show me what “women supporting women” really stands for, who listen during difficult times and are here for the good times to, who share their bad times and things & people that make them happy.

Às minhas amigas – que me mostram o que “mulheres a apoiar mulheres” quer realmente dizer, que ouvem em tempos difíceis e estão la nos momentos bons, que partilham os momentos maus e as coisas & pessoas que as fazem felizes.

To all of you – a huge, sincere and heartfelt thank you. I love you.
