When DEH first opened on Broadway I remembering hearing about how amazing it was, and seeing the praise for Ben Platt (who I already loved from Pitch Perfect) take over Twitter. I was excited to see this show before I even knew what it was about.

When it was announced that it was coming to London, I didn’t waste anytime and bought tickets for the first date I found available.
Quando anunciaram que ia estrear em Londres, não perdi tempo, comprei bilhetes para a primeira noite que consegui.
Although I read a little bit about the story, I made it a point to keep it vague and spoiler free. I also chose not to listen to the songs to get the full effect when I was at the theatre.
Apesar de ter lido um bocadinho sobre a história, fiz questão de não investigar muito e de não ler spoilers. Também optei por não ouvir as músicas para ter o efeito total quando estivesse no teatro.
When I did go, on Tuesday, I loved every minute – and regretted not taking tissues…!

So many of us have experienced bullying in school/life, or feelings of loneliness and even invisibility. But seeing those feelings transported to the stage, in the modern, poignant way this story is told, somehow brings them to the surface in a way that becomes almost cathartic.
Tantos de nós já foram vítimas de bullying na escola (ou na vida), ou já se sentiram sós ou mesmo invisíveis. Mas ver esses sentimentos transportados para o palco, da forma moderna e comovente como esta história é contada, trá-los à superfície de uma forma que se torna quase catártica.
The actors are fantastic – especially Sam Tutty who plays Evan Hansen with the biggest attention to detail and painful consistency.
Os actores são fantásticos – especialmente Sam Tutty que interpreta Evan Hansen com pormenores incríveis e consistência que chega a ser dolorosa.
The songs are incredible, and I really urge you to wait and listen to them first within the context of the story.
As músicas são incríveis, e recomendo mesmo que esperem para as ouvir com o contexto da história.
I loved noticing the music itself here – it had an almost “throwback” feel to it, as if it was inspired by the songs of the late 90s/early noughties. A lot of melodic guitar which felt like you were hanging out with your friends on a summer evening and singing along as one of you played.
Adorei reparar na música em si nesta peça – dá uma sensação quase de “throwback”, como se tivesse sido inspirada pelas músicas do final dos anos 90/início dos anos 2000. Muita guitarra melódica que dá a sensação de se estar com um grupo de amigos numa noite de Verão, a cantar enquanto alguém toca guitarra.
I also loved how the stage was set up, with the band visible above the action, rather than hiding below the stage.
Também adorei a disposição do palco, com a banda visível por cima da acção, em vez de estarem escondidos por baixo do palco.
I was very positively impressed with DEH, and left more and more committed to focus on compassion in my everyday life.
Fiquei muito bem impressionada com o DEH, e saí de lá ainda mais decidida a focar-me em transmitir mais bondade e compaixão na minha vida.
