Ah what a month this has been!

Spice World 2019

I had been super excited for the Spice Girls tour since it was announced, of course, but the actual concert was even better than expected! Not only was it the perfect throwback to the late 90s and some of my most important teen memories, but it was also a super positive, empowering, inclusive concert. So many messages about equality and embracing difference, I left feeling like I could take on the world!

Desde que as Spice Girls anunciariam a digressão que eu estava super entusiasmada com o concerto, claro, mas acabou por ser ainda melhor do que eu podia esperar! Não só foi a dose perfeita de nostalgia do final dos anos 90 e de algumas das minhas mais importantes memórias da adolescência, mas também foi um concerto super positivo, inclusivo e motivador. Tantas mensagens sobre igualdade e sobre abraçar as diferenças, saí de lá convencida que podia com o mundo!

Muse

Another fantastic moment this month was the Muse gig at London Stadium – it was such a lovely evening to be outside and the concert was great! A perfect way to shout and dance all our troubles away.

Outro momento óptimo este mês foi o concerto dos Muse no London Stadium – estava uma noite super agradável para se estar na rua e o concerto foi óptimo! Uma óptima maneira de gritar e dançar até os problemas passarem.

Chernobyl HBO

I’m a sucker for a good TV series, and as a History nerd I am quite interested in the Cold War period and the Soviet Union – so this was almost mandatory viewing! It’s phenomenal. So harrowing, heartbreaking and revolting. But it is important to view this in its historical context and understand the importance of the event for the world.

Sou doida por uma boa série de TV e ao mesmo tempo como adoro História, tenho um grande interesse na altura da Guerra Fria e da União Soviética – por isso esta série era quase obrigatória! É fenomenal. Super angustiante, desoladora e revoltante. Mas é importante vê-la no contexto da época e perceber a importância que este evento teve no mundo.

When they see us

Another series that should be essential viewing is Ava Duvernay’s telling of the story of the Central Park Five case. It is so heartbreaking and revolting that I had trouble sleeping for days after watching it. But it highlights the key issues with systemic racism in the US, and the injustice that was done to these men. It’s a must see!

A série de Ava Duvernay sobre o caso dos Central Park Five também devia ser obrigatória. É tão desoladora e revoltante que me fez ter dificuldades em dormir durante dias depois de ver a série. Mas destaca os problemas chave com o racismo sistémico nos EUA, e a injustiça que foi feita a estes homens. É imperdível!

I received my copy of Suitcase magazine’s latest number this month, which is super exciting because one of my photos made it to their #SUITCASEtravels page! It was definitely a highlight of my year!

Recebi a minha cópia do mais recente número da revista Suitcase este mês, o que foi super emocionante porque uma das minhas fotos apareceu na página #SUITCASEtravels! Foi um dos momentos altos do meu ano!

Planning Barcelona

This month my mum and I started planning my dad’s birthday trip as a surprise to him. It was so much fun to book everything with mum and planning how we were going to break the news! I ended up writing a pun-filled card with lots of hints about where we were going, it worked so well! It’ll be amazing to take this trip with my parents in a few days.

Este mês eu e a minha Mãe começámos a planear a viagem dos anos do meu Pai, como surpresa para ele. Foi tão giro marcar tudo com a Mãe e planear como lhe íamos contar! Acabei por escrever um postal cheio de trocadilhos e pistas sobre onde íamos e funcionou tão bem! Vai ser óptimo fazer esta viagem com os Pais daqui a uns dias.
