Celebrating Women on IWD

Today, the 8th of March, is International Women’s Day – it has been marked across the World from as early as 1911, and it celebrates the achievements of Women across several fields. It is also a reminder of the work that still needs to be done so that we reach gender parity.

Hoje, dia 8 de Março, é o Dia Internacional da Mulher – um dia que tem sido comemorado pelo Mundo fora desde 1911 e que celebra os feitos das Mulheres em vários campos de actividade. Também serve para lembrar que ainda temos muito que fazer até atingirmos a verdadeira igualdade de géneros.

#BallanceforBetter

IWD promotes a theme every year, in order to raise awareness. This year’s is #BalanceforBetter. The idea is that the more balance there is between genders, the better the World will become.

O Dia Internacional da Mulher promove um tema todos os anos, para ajudar a chamar a atenção para esta luta importante. O deste ano é #BalanceforBetter. A ideia é que quanto mais equilíbrio existir entre géneros, mais o Mundo irá melhorar.

I grew up surrounded by strong women who inspired me everyday and made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to. And they also taught me that I could do anything if I worked hard. And that, I think, is how the world will move forward and become better – by giving equal opportunities to all, fairly.

Cresci rodeada de mulheres fortes que me inspiram todos os dias e me fizeram sentir que podia fazer o que quisesse. Para além disso também me ensinaram que podia fazer tudo, se trabalhasse com afinco. Na minha opinião, é assim que o Mundo vai andar para a frente e melhorar – dando oportunidades iguais a todos, se forma justa.

Marking IWD 2019

So much could be said and shared to mark this day. I am choosing to celebrate Women who inspire me, and make me feel stronger and happier on a daily basis…because it’s a day to commemorate each other, and because sharing really is caring – and empowering too.

Há tanto que podia ser dito e partilhado para assinalar este dia. Eu escolho celebrar as Mulheres que me inspiram e me fazem sentir mais feliz diariamente…porque é um dia para nos celebrarmos umas às outras, e porque é importante partilhar – e também é fortalecedor.

No post celebrating Women would be worthy of its name if I didn’t celebrate the Wonder Woman that is my Mum. Driven, hard-working, tough as nails and the kindest human you’ll ever meet. I am still learning how to be more like mum!

Nenhum post a celebrar as Mulheres estaria completo se não celebrasse a Mulher Maravilha que é a minha Mãe. Determinada, trabalhadora, dura de roer e a melhor pessoa que alguma vez poderão conhecer. Ainda estou a aprender a ser mais como ela!

My friends

I have never been one to have a big social circle – and I’m ok with that. Quality over quantity, and all that. The ladies in my current circle of friends are kind, intelligent, strong, determined, motivated and supportive. In 2019, it’s really all about women supporting women and my friends really do just that. I am lucky to have them!

Nunca fui pessoa de ter um círculo de amigos muito grande – e não me importo muito. Poucos e bons, e isso. As Mulheres que estão no meu círculo de amigas actual são gentis, inteligentes, fortes, determinadas, motivadas e sempre prontas a apoiar. Em 2019, é mesmo tudo sobre mulheres a apoiarem-se umas às outras e as minhas amigas fazem exactamente isso. Tenho muita sorte!

Carin Olsson – Paris in Four Months

I’ve followed Carin for a few years now and I love her feed and her stories. There is so much beauty in everything Carin does, whether that’s taking a quick selfie or doing a campaign for a massive brand. Everything is delicate, and elegant – as is she! And what gets me the most is how genuinely excited Carin gets when she gets to experience something amazing – be it the latest Dior PFW show or a Yoga class in a Museum. She is grounded and grateful and genuine – this all transpires beautifully and really makes me admire her!

Já sigo a Carin há alguns anos e adoro o feed e as stories dela. Há tanta beleza em tudo o que a Carin faz, seja uma selfie rápida ou uma campanha para uma grande marca. É tudo delicado e elegante – tal como ela! E o que me toca mais é a excitação genuína que ela mostra quando tem a oportunidade de viver uma experiência incrível, seja o último desfile da Dior na PFW ou uma aula de Yoga num Museu. É terra-a-terra e mostra-se grata e genuína – isto tudo é tão visível e faz com que a admire mesmo!

Jenny Cipoletti – Margo and Me

This is another fabulous lady I’ve followed for years and absolutely love. Jenny’s photos are gorgeous, basically editorial-worthy shots of the most incredible pieces of fashion, in the most incredible settings. I’ve once said Jenny’s posts are art, and I stand by that comment. Every photo of hers is striking, elegant, original and so beautiful – I truly admire how original her content is!

Outra mulher incrível que sigo há anos e adoro. As fotografias da Jenny são retratos lindos, dignos de editoriais, das peças de moda mais incríveis nos cenários mais incríveis. Há tempos disse, e mantenho, que os posts da Jenny são verdadeira arte. Cada fotografia dela é impressionante, elegante e tão bonita – tenho uma grande admiração pela originalidade do conteúdo da Jenny!

Emma Hoareau – Lolita Says So

The queen of all things skincare. Honestly, I don’t buy anything skincare related now without consulting Emma’s Lolita List – all her favourite products by skincare category – first. And my Sundays aren’t complete without watching Emma’s Sunday School Insta Stories. Emma is so genuine and lovely and above everything else I admire her for how naturally she talks about loving her body and shape, and sharing it online.

Sem qualquer exagero, agora não compro nada que tenha a ver com cuidados de pele sem primeiro verificar a Lolita List da Emma – um post com os produtos preferidos dela por categoria. E os meus domingos não estão completos até ver a Sunday School da Emma nas Insta Stories. A Emma é tão genuína e querida e acima de tudo admiro-a imenso pela naturalidade com a qual fala sobre gostar da sua forma e do seu corpo e sobre as partilhar online.
