Legally Blonde
I am a huge fan of the Legally Blonde films and they never fail to make me feel stronger, more capable and motivated. That montage in the first one where Elle decides to give the Law degree her all, starting with buying a new laptop in her bunny outfit, is incredible!! It just tells me that if I’m true to myself, kind to others, and work hard, I can do whatever – and who doesn’t need a bit of that in their life every now and again?
Adoro os filmes da série Legally Blonde, que nunca deixam de me fazer sentir mais forte, mais capaz e mais motivada. Aquela montagem no primeiro filme quando a Elle decide dar tudo por tudo no curso de Direito, a começar por comprar um portátil ainda com o fato de coelhinha vestido, é incrível! Diz-me que se me mantiver fiel a mim mesma, for gentil e simpática para os outros e trabalhar muito, consigo fazer tudo – e quem é que não precisa de se lembrar disso de vez em quando?
Harry Potter
When I need a bit of comfort I generally turn to the HP movies – they remind me of simpler times and transport me to a world of magic and wonder. I inevitably finish them thinking that tolerance (and general good) will triumph. In today’s world, that’s much needed.
Quando preciso de um bocadinho de conforto, normalmente vou ver um dos filmes da saga Harry Potter – lembram-me tempos mais simples e transportam-me para um mundo maravilhoso e de magia. Acabo sempre estes filmes a pensar que a tolerância (e o bem, no geral) vai triunfar. Nos dias que correm; isso é bem preciso.

When I need to watch something that is just simple fun, I turn to this film. I know it almost by heart and I love it. It is just so absurd, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously so it’s really great if you need to switch off!
Quando preciso de ver qualquer coisa que é só diversão pura, é este filme que vejo. Já o sei quase de cor e adoro. É tão absurdo, mas não se leva demasiado a sério e por isso é óptimo para quando é preciso desligar!
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
When I first watched this film I had really low expectations but it turned out to be just brilliant! It’s silly and hilarious and it’s also a good reminder of how people have more in common than they think. It’s what I turn to when I’m feeling poorly and it never fails to cheer me up. There’s nothing quite like seeing Jack Black play a cheerleader stuck in a man’s body to bring you out of a funk!
A primeira vez que vi este filme tinha muito poucas expectativas, mas acabou por ser brutal! É parvo e de morrer a rir, mas também um bom lembrete de que as pessoas têm mais em comum do que se possa pensar. É o filme que vejo quando me sinto adoentada e anima-me sempre. Não há nada como ver o Jack Black a fazer de uma cheerleader presa no corpo de um homem para animar uma pessoa!
Pitch Perfect 3
I just love the Pitch Perfect series so much – the songs are great, the characters are realistically funny and the dialogue is great. But the third film, where the Bellas go on tour with the USO, has to be my favourite. The evolution of the characters is great, and it’s really heartwarming to see how that group of acapella nerds became a family. It’s a great reminder of the importance of having good friends. I might start watching it feeling sad, but by the end I’m always happily singing along!
Adoro os filmes da série Pitch Perfect – as músicas são óptimas, os personagens são engraçados mas de forma realista e os diálogos são espectaculares. Mas o terceiro filme, onde as Bellas vão fazer uma digressão com o USO, é o meu preferido. A evolução das personagens é óptima, e é tão fofo ver como aquele grupo de nerds do acapella se tornou uma família. É um óptimo lembrete da importância de ter boas amigas. Posso começar o filme a sentir-me em baixo, mas acabo sempre a cantarolar feliz!
