April Reading List

Hi guys! Hope you’re all doing well 🙂 I wanted to share this post with you on Tuesday, but in all honesty, I started this week on a rather gloomy note (much like the weather) and couldn’t bring myself to write it up…We all have those days I guess! But now that I’m feeling a little more upbeat, I’m excited to share with you the books I’ve currently got on my reading list!

Espero que estejam todos bem 🙂 Queria ter partilhado este post na Terça-feira, mas na verdade comecei a semana um bocado em baixo (para combinar com o tempo cinzento que temos tido aqui) e não consegui escrevê-lo antes…Acho que todos temos destes dias! Mas agora que me sinto mais animada, estou ansiosa por partilhar convosco os livros que estão na minha actual lista de leituras!

Estoril A War Novel

This one was a serendipitous find at Daunt Books this past weekend – the cover called out to me because the design is gorgeous, and clearly the title called out to me because it’s set in Portugal. For a few years now I’ve been fascinated with the role Lisbon played as a hub of spies and refugees trying to get out of Europe during the Second World War and this book is set exactly during that period. I’ve only just started but it reads really well and I’m enjoying it!

Encontrei este livro por completo acaso no fim-de-semana passado – a capa chamou por mim porque tem um design muito giro e o título também chamou por mim – razões óbvias, passa-se em Portugal. Há uns anos que me fascina o papel que Lisboa teve durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial para espiões e refugiados a tentar sair da Europa e este livro passa-se durante esse período. Comecei há pouco tempo, mas lê-se facilmente e estou a gostar!

Heart Talk

I’ve been following Cleo Wade for a while on Instagram – can’t even remember how I came across her account, but her positive, kind, inspirational quotes in her very own artsy handwriting caught my eye and I’ve loved her ever since. She is a major source of social wisdom in the US, and her posts promote kindness and positivity. I knew I wanted to buy her poetry book – and finally got it this weekend. I’m yet to start reading it but I’m so excited!

Já sigo a Cleo Wade no Instagram há algum tempo – nem sei como descobri o perfil dela, mas as frases positivas, gentis, inspiradora que partilha na sua letra tão típica e artística chamaram-me a atenção e adoro segui-la desde então. É uma fonte de sabedoria social nos EUA e os posts dela promovem bondade e positividade. Sabia que queria comprar o livro de poesia que escreveu – e finalmente comprei no passado fim-de-semana. Ainda não comecei mas estou entusiasmada!

I finally got my hands on this recipe book by Chef Nuno Mendes of Chiltern Firehouse. It’s full of traditional Portuguese recipes and gorgeous photos! I’m so excited to start trying a few of them…once I figure out how to properly work my oven! (*face palm*)

Finalmente comprei o livro de receitas do Chef Nuno Mendes do Chiltern Firehouse. Está cheio de receitas tradicionais Portuguesas e tem fotografias lindas! Estou entusiasmada por começar a experimentar algumas receitas…assim que perceba como funciona o meu forno!

A Novel Cure

I fell in love with this book the moment I saw ‘An A-Z of Literary Remedies’ on the cover. It is exactly that: whatever physical or emotional ailment you have, this book as a book suggestion for you. For example, under Arrogance, it suggests Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It genuinely is wonderful and I can’t wait to explore some of the suggestions!

Apaixonei-me por este livro quando vi ‘Um A-Z de remédios literários’ na capa. É exactamente isso: qualquer problema físico ou emocional que se tenha, este livro tem uma sugestão de livro dentro do tema. Por exemplo, em Arrogância, sugere Orgulho e Preconceito de Jane Austen. É uma verdadeira maravilha e mal posso esperar por explorar algumas das sugestões!
