London has been hit by a seriously cold snap this week, so what better than to stay in with a nice candle, a warm cup of tea and a good book? Here’s what I’ve currently got on my list.

A Wind in the Door
After finishing A Wrinkle in Time in almost record time, I really wanted to get the second book in the Time series. I am only halfway through this volume but I am liking it – it’s a children’s science fantasy novel written in the 1970s, but the themes of good vs evil, light vs darkness, and even bullying are all there and are just as relevant.
Depois de acabar A Wrinkle in Time em tempo quase record, queria mesmo começar a ler o segundo livro da série do Tempo. Só vou a meio deste volume mas estou a gostar – é um romance de ficção científica infantil escrita nos anos 1970, mas os temas do bem contra o mal, da luz contra a escuridão e mesmo de bullying estão lá todos e continuam a ser relevantes.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
I’d seen this book popping about online so I finally got my hands on it. The writing is natural and it flows beautifully, it’s relatable and funny. Just from the start of the story it seemed like a really nice approach to loneliness and how it can affect people.
Já tinha visto este livro a aparecer em vários sítios na net, por isso decidi finalmente comprá-lo. A escrita é natural e lê-se muito bem, é engraçada e é fácil de nos identificarmos com a história. Só do começo parece uma abordagem interessante ao assunto da solidão e como ela afecta as várias pessoas.

I feel like all I saw last week was Anna talking about how she was getting on with this book! I was already looking forward to reading it, but after seeing her talk about it and after watching the film last week, I’m even more curious! What a beautiful, sweet, poignant and poetic tale – can’t wait to read more of the story!
Juro que tudo o que vi na semana passada foi a Anna a falar de como se estava a dar a ler este livro! Já estava ansiosa para ler este livro, mas depois de ver a Anna falar dele e depois de ver o filme na semana passada, estou ainda mais curiosa! Que história bonita, doce, importante e poética – mal posso esperar por ler mais desta história!
