Holiday Bucket List

Hi everyone! Inspired by an Instagram post I saw on The Everygirl’s feed, I thought I’d start my Holiday series by sharing my favourite things to do around this time!

Olá a todos! Inspirada por um post que vi no Instagram do blog The Everygirl, decidi começar os meus posts de Natal com uma bucket list das minhas coisas preferidas para fazer nesta altura do ano!

Christmas Movies // Filmes de Natal

Nothing beats snuggling with a blanket, a warm cup of tea and a lit candle while watching classic Holiday films. I have already started with this, having watched my favourite of all time, Home Alone 2, earlier this week.

Não há nada melhor do que estar aconchegada no sofá com uma manta, uma chávena de chá bem quente e uma vela acesa, a ver filmes clássicos de Natal. Comecei esta tradição há uns dias, quando vi o meu preferido de sempre, Sozinho em Casa 2.

But there are so many brilliant Holiday films! From White Christmas (if you’re looking for a true classic), to Love Actually (for the romance), Elf (for the comedy) or even Die Hard (for a Christmas film without too much…mush!) – the choice is endless and it’s a joy to watch them every year.

Mas há tantos filmes Natalícios que são fantásticos! Desde o White Christmas (se quiserem um clássico a sério), ao Love Actually (pelo romance), ao Elf (pela comédia) e até ao Die Hard (para um filme de Natal sem tanta…lamechice!) – há uma escolha infinita e é óptimo revê-los todos os anos.

My must watch though isn’t to do with Christmas at all, but it used to be on TV every single year on Christmas Day. It was on in the afternoon, just after we feasted on delicious turkey over lunch – and it’s still my favourite to watch this season: The Sound of Music.

O meu filme essencial desta época, no entanto, não tem nada a ver com o Natal, mas costumava dar na TV todos os anos no dia de Natal. Dava à tarde, mesmo depois de acabarmos de almoçar o delicioso perú de Natal – e ainda é um dos meus preferidos para ver nesta altura: Música no Coração.

Christmas Decorations // Decorações de Natal

There is something magical and happy about decorating the house for Christmas. I have very minimalist decorations but I love all the pieces I have – especially the super delicate Nativity scene made out of tins that my aunty brought me from Mexico.

Há qualquer coisa de mágico e feliz sobre decorar a casa para o Natal. As minhas decorações são bastante minimalistas, mas adoro todas as peças que tenho – especialmente o presépio super delicado feito de lata que a minha tia me trouxe do México.

Take a tour of the street decorations // Ver as iluminações

When I was little in Lisbon there was always one night when we’d get in the car and go downtown to admire the beautiful street decorations that had been put up for Christmas. It’s so magical! I love doing this even more here in London in the crisp evening air. The decorations are beautiful every single year.

Quando era criança em Lisboa havia sempre uma noite em que nos metíamos no carro para ir à Baixa ver as iluminações lindas que tinham sido postas para o Natal. É tão mágico! Adoro ainda mais fazer isto aqui em Londres, com o ar frio da noite. As iluminações são lindas todos os anos.

Winter Wonderland

Crowded and cheesy though it may be, Winter Wonderland is one of my favourite things about the Holidays in London. The mulled wine, the hot dog stands, the lights, carousels, sweets, Bavarian Beer Halls with fun music…I like it all! This year I get to go on the 23rd November for a work event and I cannot wait!

Apesar de ser meio piroso e ter imensa gente, a Winter Wonderland é uma das minhas coisas preferidas sobre o Natal em Londres. O vinho quente, os cachorros quentes ao estilo alemão, as luzes, os carrosséis, os doces, as Bavarian Beer Halls com música divertida…gosto de tudo! Este ano vou no dia 23 de Novembro para uma saída do trabalho e mal posso esperar!

Ice Skating // Patinagem no gelo

Now this is a bit of a cheat – I don’t ice skate at all, my balance isn’t great and stories of injuries scared me for life. But I love going over to the Natural History Museum or Somerset House to see the ice rinks and admire the beautiful decorations. Photos look great too!

Esta é um bocadinho batota – não patino de todo no gelo, não tenho equilíbrio e relatos de lesões assustaram-me tanto que não ponho os pés na pista. Mas adoro ir ao Museu de História Natural ou à Somerset House para ver as pistas de gelo e admirar as decorações lindíssimas. Para além do mais, dão óptimas fotografias!

Christmas cards // Cartões de Natal

I’ve gotten into the habit of sending out Christmas cards to my nearest and dearest – still need to pick out this year’s cards so I can write and post them, but I’m so excited!

Ganhei o hábito de escrever e enviar cartões de Natal à minha família e amigos mais próximos – ainda tenho de escolher os cartões deste ano para os poder escrever e enviar, mas estou super entusiasmada!

Choosing and wrapping gifts // Escolher e embrulhar presentes

Last year I had a blast choosing gifts for my family – I’m so hoping this year will be the same. I already know how I want to wrap them, and this is making me so excited!

No ano passado adorei escolher presentes para a minha família – espero bem que este ano seja igual. Já sei como os quero embrulhar e isso está-me a deixar super entusiasmada!
