Olá a todos! Espero que estejam bem 🙂 Hoje, como prometido, conto-vos mais sobre a minha experiência de fazer a primeira tatuagem, como decidi o desenho, o que representa e toda a informação útil. Espero que gostem!
Why // Porquê
Back in 2014, when I turned 30, I knew I needed/wanted some changes in my life. Part of this involved moving back to Portugal. And when that decision was made I started thinking about getting a simple tattoo to represent my need to move back (Home) to move forward (with my life). I didn’t end up getting it then but the idea stuck with me.
Em 2014, quando fiz 30 anos, sabia que precisava de/queria fazer mudanças na minha vida. Parte disto incluía mudar-me de volta para Portugal. E quando essa decisão foi tomada, comecei a pensar em fazer uma tatuagem simples para representar a minha decisão de voltar a casa para seguir com a minha vida. Não a fiz na altura, mas a ideia ficou-me na cabeça.
This summer I had a bit too much drama to deal with, things with friends that were making my Anxiety spike, and also the added, unexpected, stress of needing to move house. So I decided I needed to make a mark.
Este Verão lidei com uns dramas a mais, coisas com amigos que me estavam a fazer ter picos de Ansiedade, e ainda tive o stress acrescentado (e inesperado) de ter de mudar de casa. Então decidi que precisava de fazer um marco.
Meaning // Significado
When I first started looking for inspiration on Pinterest, I came across an image that said “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming”. That quote really stuck with me and it’s something I’ve often come back to over the past three years.
Quando comecei à procura de inspiração no Pinterest, encontrei uma imagem que dizia “Uma seta só pode ser disparada ao ser puxada para trás. Quando a vida te está a arrastar para trás com dificuldades, quer dizer que te vai lançar para algo óptimo. Por isso concentra-te, e continua a disparar”. Essa frase ficou comigo e é algo de que me tenho lembrado várias vezes nos últimos três anos.
For me it’s about strength, positivity, and perseverance. It reminds me of how far I’ve come both in life and in dealing with my Anxiety too, and that the way is always forward.
Para mim a seta representa força, positividade e perseverança. Lembra-me do caminho que já percorri, tanto na vida como no que toca a lidar com a Ansiedade, e que o caminho é sempre para a frente.
Who and where // Quem e Onde
I had seen Olivia’s post about her first tattoo and through that discovered the wonderful designs of Armelle. I knew she occasionally did weeks in London so I went to check her Instagram to find out more. By pure luck she was going to be here the week I came back from holiday and had only one spot left – I felt it was fate and booked it! So on the scheduled day and time I headed to Parliament Tattoo near Finsbury Park to meet Armelle, see the design and get it done!
Tinha visto o post da Olivia sobre a primeira tatuagem dela e através dele descobri os designs maravilhosos da Armelle. Sabia que ela fazia semanas em Londres de vez em quando, então fui ver o Instagram dela para saber mais. Por pura sorte ela ia estar em Londres na semana em que eu voltava de férias e só tinha uma hora livre – senti que estava destinado e marquei logo! Então no dia e hora marcados dirigi-me ao Parliament Tattoo ao pé de Finsbury Park para conhecer a Armelle, ver o desenho, e fazer a tatuagem!
Parliament Tattoo is a very professional place, it’s super cool, the staff is super nice and everything’s clean and very hygienic as it should be! Armelle was very lovely, completely understood what I wanted for a design and was really patient with me as I was a little nervous!
O Parliament Tattoo é um sítio super profissional, muito giro, o pessoal é super simpático e é tudo muito limpo e muito higiénico como se quer! A Armelle foi super simpática, percebeu perfeitamente o que eu queria como desenho e foi super paciente comigo já que eu estava um bocadinho nervosa!
The Process // O Processo
The first thing I asked Armelle when we were getting ready to start was if it would hurt. She said it would be the same kind of pain that you get when you wax your legs. I could not think of a better description! It was not painful, more ticklish – but then I am aware that this is because mine was in a ‘meaty’ part of my arm. Other areas, as I’ve heard from my best friends, are way more painful.
A primeira coisa que perguntei à Armelle quando nos estávamos a preparar para começar foi se ia doer. Ela disse que ia ser o mesmo género de dor que temos ao fazer depilação a cera. Não podia descrever melhor! Não foi doloroso, foi mais parecido com cócegas – mas também tem a ver com a zona do braço que tatuei. Noutras zonas, ao que me disseram as minhas melhores amigas, são bem mais dolorosas.
The actual tattoo part lasted about 30mins if that. It felt very quick, I don’t know if it was the excitement or what, but it did!
A tatuagem em si durou uma meia hora, se tanto. Pareceu muito rápido, não sei se foi do entusiasmo se quê, mas pareceu!
Care // Cuidados
After the tattoo was finished we took some photos and Armelle wrapped my wrist in cling film that I had to keep for 4 hours. After those 4 hours I could remove it and wash it with gentle soap.
Depois da tatuagem feita, tirámos fotos e a Armelle cobriu-me o pulso com papel aderente que era para deixar ficar durante 4 horas. Depois dessas 4 horas podia tirar e lavar com sabão suave.
From here I followed my best friend’s tips: wash it (without rubbing) with tepid water mornings and evenings, tap dry with toilet paper or kitchen roll, and put a thin layer of Bepanthene Plus (to avoid infections) on it every time you feel it is dry. And so I did – and the tattoo, which I’ve nicknamed Ygritte (after Rose Leslie’s GoT character), healed beautifully.
A partir daqui segui os conselhos da minha melhor amiga: lavar a tatuagem (sem esfregar) com água tépida de manhã e à noite, secar com papel higiénico ou de cozinha e aplicar uma camada leve de Bepanthene Plus (para evitar infecções) sempre que a tatuagem estiver seca. Assim fiz e a tatuagem, à qual dei a alcunha de Ygritte (como a personagem de Rose Leslie na Guerra dos Tronos), sarou lindamente.
I am thrilled with the result and how beautiful/meaningful this feels for me. I catch myself glancing lovingly at it not just because the design is beautiful but because I’m proud of having done this.
Estou felicíssima com o resultado e com o facto de ter ficado tão bonita e ter tanto significado para mim. Apanho-me a olhar para ela não só porque o desenho é lindo, mas também porque estou orgulhosa de a ter feito.

Eu já por várias vezes pensei em fazer tatuagens, mas ainda bem que não o fiz mais cedo, porque já mudei de ideias várias vezes e ter-me-ia arrependido. Agora já tenho uma ideia (aliás, várias) de algumas que gostava de fazer
Gostei muito do design da tua e do local onde escolheste tatuar. Também penso em fazer nessa zona!
