Hi everyone, hope you’re well and having a great start to August! As the new month begins, I wanted to share my favourite moments and things from last month with you.
Olá a todos, espero que estejam bem e a ter um óptimo começo de Agosto! Neste início de novo mês, queria partilhar convosco os meus momentos e as minhas coisas favoritas do mês passado.
July was a whirlwind – it went by super quickly and yet it was busy and full of great moments!
Julho foi um rodopio – passou super rápido e ainda assim foi agitado e cheio de óptimos momentos!
Friends // Amigos
I got to catch up with friends from Home and spend some incredible times in Portugal with them. These are people I can talk to openly because they’ve seen me at my best and at my worst. I’m thankful to have them in my life to distract me from daily dramas or call me out on my BS.
Pude por a conversa em dia com amigos em Portugal e passar uns tempos fantásticos com eles. São pessoas com quem falo abertamente porque me viram no meu melhor e também no meu pior. Sinto-me grata por os ter na minha vida para me distrair dos dramas do dia-a-dia ou para me fazerem ver as minhas próprias tretas.
Being Home // Estar em Casa
I’ve had two trips to Portugal in July and they have made my heart full with joy. I love being Home and there is no better time for it: long sunny days, warm weather, great food…it’s brilliant! And this trip that extends into August brings about the best element: the beach!
Em Julho vim a Portugal duas vezes o que me encheu de alegria. Adoro estar em Casa e não há melhor altura: dias longos e cheios de sol, tempo quente, óptima comida…é genial! E nesta viagem que se estende até Agosto traz o melhor elemento: a praia!
Music // Música
Not only did I spend some glorious evenings in the company of friends and watching great gigs at NOS Alive, but I also got to discover some great music! Bands like Phoenix and Kodaline have been on my favourite playlist since and so has The Weeknd, whose music, I’m embarrassed to admit, I didn’t know all that well.
Não só passei uma noites fantásticas na companhia de amigos e a ver concertos óptimos no NOS Alive, mas também descobri música excelente! Bandas como Phoenix e Kodaline têm estado na minha Playlist favorita desde o festival, tal como The Weeknd, cuja música, tenho vergonha de admitir, não conhecia assim tão bem.
I also went back to listening to Linkin Park, a band that is associated with so many memories from my late teens and early twenties, since Chester Bennington died a couple of weeks ago. It’s been great to reminisce, and it’s also great to see how many other people of my generation were moved and felt supported by their lyrics.
Também voltei a ouvir Linkin Park, uma banda que está associada a tantas memórias do final do Liceu e começo da Faculdade, desde a morte de Chester Bennington há umas semanas. Tem sido bom lembrar, e também tem sido bom ver como outras pessoas da minha geração se sentiram tocadas e apoiadas pelas letras deles.
Books // Livros
After a long time without finding good books that I loved enough to finish, this month has been a welcome change. I finished The Handmaid’s Tale, Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk, and Ways to Disappear. All incredible novels, with strong, clever, witty female characters at the centre. They’ve moved me, in different ways, and I am grateful for having found them when I did.
Depois de um bom tempo sem encontrar livros dos quais gostasse o suficiente para os acabar, este mês foi uma boa mudança. Acabei The Handmaid’s Tale, Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk e Ways to Disappear. Todos livros incríveis com personagens principais femininas que são fortes, inteligentes e perspicazes. Mexeram comigo de formas diferentes e sinto-me feliz por os ter encontrado e lido quando o fiz.
Films & TV // Filmes & Séries
Dunkirk was a highlight for me this month. I watched it in IMAX and was genuinely in tears by the way the events were approached, and the stunning war scenes.
Dunkirk foi um destaque do mês para mim. Vi-o em IMAX e até me vieram as lágrimas aos olhos com a forma de contar aquele momento Histórico, e pelas cenas de guerra lindíssimas.
I’ve been loving the new series of Game of Thrones – incredible stories, the development of great characters and savage scenes, just like the show has gotten used to.
Também tenho estado a adorar a nova temporada d’A Guerra dos Tronos – histórias incríveis, o desenvolvimento de personagens óptimos e cenas selvagens, tudo ao que a série nos habituou!
And I also discovered The Bold Type, a new series that is based around a progressive lifestyle magazine aimed at women. The episodes revolve around the lives of three girls who work there, their boss and their colleagues. The positivity in that show is incredible – it’s inspiring, empowering, motivating and all the good things you need to feel like an unstoppable #girlboss.
Também descobri The Bold Type, uma série nova que é baseada numa revista de lifestyle progressiva e dirigida a mulheres. A série gira em torno das vidas se três raparigas que lá trabalham, da chefe delas, e dos colegas. A série é tão positiva – é inspiradora, motivadora, ’empowering’ e todas as coisas boas que precisamos para nos sentirmos uma #girlboss imparável.
Beauty // Beleza
I’ve been loving trying out more natural beauty products – the staff at Content Beauty are super helpful and great guides for newbies like me trying to make the switch.
Tenho adorado experimentar mais produtos de beleza natural – os funcionários da Content Beauty são super simpáticos e têm sido óptimos guias para uma novata como eu que quer tentar fazer a passagem para produtos naturais.
My most recent discoveries have been the Body Balm, Body Oil and Hand Cream from the Danish brand Nuori. They smell divine and are a blessing for super dry skin like mine!
As minhas descobertas mais recentes foram o Body Balm, o Body Oil e o Hand Cream da marca dinamarquesa Nuori. Têm um cheiro divinal e são uma benção para pele super seca como a minha!
LilyLolo is another brand I’ve been loving – they have great natural makeup, including beautiful eye palettes and blushes, at super affordable prices!
Outra marca que tenho adorado é a LilyLolo – têm maquilhagem óptima, incluindo conjuntos de sombras de olhos e blushes lindos, a óptimos preços!
Also in July, I went to the Glossier London pop up and got to test out all their products – and became obsessed with their generation g lipstick in Crush. It’s a beautiful pinky red colour which goes on sheer, isn’t drying for lips at all, but is matte. Magic, I tell you!
Ainda em Julho, fui à pop up da Glossier em Londres e pude testar todos os produtos – fiquei doida com o batom generation g na cor Crush. É um tom vermelho rosado que não é demasiado opaco, não seca os lábios, mas é matte. Magia, só vos digo!
Blogging Community // Comunidade de Bloggers
During July I also got to help out Supal (of Chevrons & Eclairs) with shooting for a collaboration she was doing and I had so much fun! It’s been great catching up with Supal and talking all things blogging, creating content and just life in general!
Em Julho também pude ajudar a Supal (do blog Chevrons & Eclairs) a tirar umas fotografias para uma colaboração que ia fazer e diverti-me imenso! Tem sido óptimo encontrar-me com a Supal e falar sobre tudo desde blogs, a criar conteúdo, à vida no geral!
I have also been making an effort to participate more in the blogging community, especially on Instagram. It’s so great when people leave meaningful, thought out comments out there that can encourage and motivate a creator! So I have really been trying to comment on photos that truly speak to me and do so with a point, saying something positive, something nice.
Também tenho feito um esforço maior para participar mais na comunidade de blogs, especialmente no Instagram. É tão bom quando as pessoas deixam comentários positivos e pensados que podem dar força e motivar alguém que esteja a criar conteúdos! Por isso tenho feito um esforço para comentar nas fotografias que têm mais impacto em mim, e faço-o com um objectivo, dizendo algo positivo e simpático.
Social Media Black Out // Apagão das Redes Sociais
Ok so maybe calling it a Black Out is too much, but I have made an effort to spend less time on my phone. At the beginning/middle of the month my Anxiety was at a peak and noticed I was constantly checking social media – for no reason!
Ok talvez chamar-lhe um Apagão seja demais, mas tenho feito esforços para passar menos tempo a olhar para o telemóvel. No início/meio do mês a minha Ansiedade estava em alta e reparei que estava constantemente a ver as redes sociais – sem razão nenhuma!
My mind was racing and I could not switch off, so at the advice of a friend, I turned off all social media apps except the messaging apps and those related to the blog. It’s done me a world of good.
A minha cabeça estava a mil e não conseguia desligar, por isso segui o conselho de uma amiga e desliguei todas as apps de redes sociais menos as de mensagens e as do blog. Fez-me um bem doido.
I don’t need to be on my phone constantly, I am more focused and motivated at work, I have taken more time to myself and finally began enjoying the time to do nothing but read a good book.
Não preciso de estar sempre a olhar para o telemóvel, estou mais concentrada e motivada no trabalho, tenho mais tempo para cuidar de mim mesma e finalmente voltei a gozar o tempo de não fazer nada para além de ler um bom livro.
