Three Little Things #17

#1 Haircut

I mentioned it in my May favourites, yeah, but the more days go by the more I love my new haircut! And since it only happened a week ago, I think I can still include it here, right? 🙂

Sim, já falei nele no meu post de favoritos de Maio, mas quantos mais dias passam, mais gosto do meu novo corte de cabelo! E já que só aconteceu há uma semana, acho que ainda o posso incluir aqui, certo? 🙂

It’s obviously a huge change and something I wouldn’t even have considered even last year, but over the past few months the idea hadn’t left my brain and so I finally did it. I’m loving the new look, it’s inspired me to think more carefully about my style and it’s just so much fun to learn how to style my new pixie cut!

É obviamente uma grande mudança e algo que nem sequer teria pensado fazer há um ano, mas nos últimos meses a ideia não me saía da cabeça e por isso finalmente fiz o corte. Estou a adorar o meu novo look, já me inspirou a pensar mais cuidadosamente no meu estilo e é tão divertido aprender como pentear o meu novo corte curto!

#2 Kew Gardens

Last Sunday I finally headed to Kew Gardens. I’d been wanting to visit for a while because people say such great things about it – and for good reason, it’s beautiful! I can’t quite decide whether I liked all the beautiful Palm trees in the Palm House or all the Cacti in the Conservatory more! Well worth visiting – check out tomorrow’s post for more photos.

No último domingo fui finalmente até aos Kew Gardens. Há tempos que andava a querer ir porque ouvia imensa gente dizer bem deles – e com razão, os jardins são lindíssimos! Não consigo decidir se gostei mais das Palmeiras da Palm House ou dos Cactos no Conservatory! Vale bem a pena visitar – vejam o post de amanhã para mais fotos.

#3 Dear White People

I’d seen the Dear White People movie, and then the series, pop up on Netflix but hadn’t gotten round to watching it. On Monday my friend A mentioned the series was good and easy to watch – and I binge watched all 10 episodes in one day (gotta love a bank holiday Monday, amirite?). 

Já tinha visto o filme é a série Dear White People aparecer no meu Netflix, mas ainda não tinha visto. Na segunda-feira a minha amiga A disse que a série era boa e fácil de ver – e eu acabei por ver os 10 episódios de seguida no mesmo dia (nada melhor que um feriado, certo?).

I love the way the issues of race, White priviledge, cultural appropriation, identity, etc, are approached in this series. The characters are complex and interesting, the story is compelling and, at around 20 minutes an episode, it’s really easy to watch. 

Adorei a forma como a série fala de questões raciais, de privilégio branco, apropriação cultural, identidade, entre outros tópicos. Os personagens são complexos e interessantes, a história é captivate e, com cerca de 20 minutos por episódio, vê-se num instante.

And most of all, it is a nice way to learn more about racial issues that affect minorities in the US, but also in the UK and elsewhere. Oh and one of the episodes (a rather powerful one) is directed by Barry Jenkins, who directed Moonlight, if you needed extra convincing.

Mais importante de tudo, a série é uma boa forma de aprender mais sobre problemas raciais que afectam as minorias tanto nos EUA, como no Reino Unido e outros países. Ah e um dos episódios (um bastante poderoso) é realizado por Barry Jenkins, que realizou o filme Moonlight, caso precisem de mais um argumento para vos convencer.
