Best of 2016

Good morning guys and happy last day of 2016! Today I want to share with you the highlights of the year. Overall the year has been pretty rubbish, but I was lucky to have some very memorable moments and thought it would be a good idea to end the year on a grateful note.

Bom dia a todos e bom último dia de 2016! Hoje quero partilhar convosco os melhores momentos do ano. No geral o ano foi uma porcaria, mas tive sorte de viver alguns momentos memoráveis e achei que seria boa ideia acabar o ano a relembrá-los com gratidão.

Travel

New York

This year I crossed the biggest thing off my travel bucket list and finally visited New York. I’d been dreaming about this for as long as I can remember and getting to do it by myself, an adventure onto itself, was absolutely perfect. I walked so much but didn’t feel tired, instead I felt exhilarated and excited like a child at Christmas. NYC has everything and it was incredible to spend a full week there exploring. Of course it didn’t hurt to be upgraded to business class on my flight there, the first long haul flight I’d gone on alone!

Este ano risquei o maior item na minha lista de viagens de sonho e visitei finalmente Nova Iorque. Sonhava com esta viagem desde que me lembro e poder fazê-la sozinha, que já de si foi uma aventura, foi absolutamente perfeito. Andei imenso mas não me senti cansada, aliás até me senti mais animada e entusiasmada como uma criança no Natal. NYC tem tudo e foi incrível passar uma semana inteira lá a explorar. Claro que também não fez mal nenhum ter tido um upgrade para business class na viagem para lá, no primeiro voo de longo curso que fiz sozinha!

Copenhagen

This was also the year that started my passion for Scandinavian countries and culture – much due to the fantastic weekend I spent in Copenhagen at the end of August. What a beautiful city, full of life, culture and incredible things to see and do. I loved it so much that I’m planning to return with more time in 2017, particularly to go see the Arken Museum and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Este também foi o ano que deu início à minha paixão pelos países e pela cultura da Escandinávia – muito da qual se deve ao fim-de-semana fantástico que passei em Copenhaga no final de Agosto. Que cidade linda, cheia de vida e de coisas incríveis para ver e fazer. Adorei de tal forma que já estou a planear voltar com mais tempo em 2017, especialmente para poder ver o Arken Museum e o Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Stockholm

To continue exploring Scandinavia, I headed to Stockholm and was blown away. Visiting this fantastic city in October, with its crisp air and breathtaking autumn colours, was a dream. I walked for miles and took loads of pictures, took in the beautiful sights and the super impressive museums. I can’t wait to go back in warmer weather.

Para continuar a explorar a Escandinávia, dirigi-me a Estocolmo e fiquei muitíssimo bem impressionada. Visitar esta cidade fantástica em Outubro, com o ar fresco e cores de Outono de cortar a respiração, foi um sonho. Andei que me fartei e tirei montes de fotografias, apreciei as vistas e os fabulosos museus. Mal posso esperar por voltar com tempo mais quente.

Brighton

I decided to spend Easter a little closer to home and went to Brighton for the weekend. I was very excited to stay at the Artist Residence, and to explore a town I’d heard so much about. I hadn’t really been to the seaside in the south of the UK and absolutely loved it! It’s like the sea air gave me renewed energy – it was absolutely brilliant!

Decidi passar a Páscoa mais perto de casa e fui a Brighton passar o fim-de-semana. Fiquei super contente por ficar no The Artist Residence e de explorar uma cidade da qual já tinha ouvido dizer tão bem. Nunca tinha ido à costa no sul do Reino Unido e adorei! Foi como se o mar me tivesse dado uma energia renovada – foi espectacular!

Moments

Dad’s book launch

In April I headed home to attend the presentation of O Homem Que Inventa Setembros, my Dad’s first published book. It was a moment of incredible pride and just sheer joy to see my Dad do something that he’d been wanting to do for so long. And to have so much of our family gathered in the town we’re originally from to celebrate it made it all the more special.

Em Abril voltei a Portugal para assistir à apresentação de O Homem Que Inventa Setembros, o primeiro livro que o meu Pai publicou. Foi um momento de enorme orgulho e alegria indescritível ver o meu Pai a fazer uma coisa que queria fazer há tanto tempo. E ter tanta da nossa família reunida na cidade de onde somos originários para celebrar o livro tornou tudo ainda mais especial.

Family moments

Throughout 2016 we were lucky enough to spend many family moments together. From meals together, to walks in the countryside, and especially T&M’s wedding. I always feel really lucky when the family gets together and we spend time enjoying each other’s  company. It’s especially great when this involves little V because he’s the cutest and we all melt over him.

Ao longo de 2016 tivemos a sorte de passar vários momentos juntos em família. Desde almoços e jantares, a passeios pelo campo e especialmente o casamento da T e do M. Sinto-me sempre com muita sorte quando a família se junta e quando passamos tempo na companhia uns dos outros. É especialmente bom quando isto inclui o V porque ele é o miúdo mais fofo e nós derretemo-nos todos com ele.

Catching up with friends

M, my best friend from uni visited London in September with A and it was great to spend some time with them catching up and exploring. Better yet was meeting up with them both in Lisbon, and having dinner at A’s house just yesterday. It’s so much fun to hang out with these girls – I hadn’t laughed so much in yonks! Love them to bits – bring on more of these moments in 2017!

A M, a minha melhor amiga da faculdade, visitou Londres com a A e foi óptimo passar tempo com elas a por a conversa em dia e a explorar. Melhor ainda foi encontrar-me com elas em Lisboa e jantar em casa da A ontem. É tão divertido estar com estas duas – já não me ria assim há séculos! Adoro-as – venham mais destes momentos em 2017!

Exploring Porto

If you saw my last post you’ll know I went to Porto on Wednesday to do some photo-exploring with Leah (SardinesPlease). This was definitely one of the best moments this year! It was so much fun to walk around with another photo-taker. Plus it was brilliant that I got to meet Leah, and make a new friend through my blog/Instagram account. Wonderful experience!

Se tiverem visto o meu último post sabem que fui ao Porto na quarta-feira para explorar e tirar fotos com a Leah (SardinesPlease). Este foi definitivamente um dos melhores momentos do ano! Foi tão giro andar pela cidade com outra pessoa que gosta de tirar fotografias. E depois foi óptimo poder conhecer a Leah e fazer uma nova amiga através do meu blog/Instagram. Que experiência fantástica!

Harry Potter Studios

At the beginning of May I headed to Harry Potter Studios near London with a few friends to visit the place where the magic had come to life. It was fantastic to visit the Studios with fellow Potterheads and share the excitement at seeing the Hogwarts Express up close. I also loved taking a photo going into Platform 9 3/4 wearing a Hufflepuff scarf.

No início de Maio fui aos Harry Potter Studios perto de Londres com umas amigas para visitar o sítio onde a magia se tornou real. Foi fantástico visitar os estúdios com outras Potterheads e partilhar o entusiasmo de ver o Hogwarts Express de perto. Também adorei tirar uma fotografia a entrar na Plataforma 9 3/4 com um cachecol dos Hufflepuff.

Photo shoot with Nadia

At the end of July, just before my summer holidays, I met up with the super lovely Nadia Meli for a photo shoot in Hampstead. It was brilliant to meet Nadia in person, she is one of the nicest, most uplifting and inspiring people you’ll meet, her energy is truly contagious. And that was a great help for the shoot, especially since I am quite an awkward, shy person when it comes to having photos taken. The result was amazing. I’m so pleased with how the photos turned out, and cannot wait to catch up with Nadia again in 2017 for another one of these moments!

No final de Julho, mesmo antes das minhas férias de Verão, encontrei-me com a Nadia Meli, que é super querida, para uma sessão fotográfica em Hampstead. Foi óptimo conhecer a Nadia ao vivo: ela é uma das pessoas mais simpáticas, mais encorajaradoras e inspiradora que possam conhecer, a energia dela é mesmo contagiante. E isso foi uma grande ajuda para a sessão de fotografias, especialmente porque eu sou uma pessoa bastante tímida e por isso fico toda estranha quando me tiram fotografias. O resultado ficou espectacular. Fiquei super satisfeita com as fotos que a Nadia tirou e mal posso esperar para me voltar a encontrar com ela e repetir a experiência em 2017!

Blog to website

This was also the year my little blog became a full blown website. I’ve been devoting more time to it, and with the help of PipDig.com I now have a proper space on the internet that allows me to share my travels, style ideas and just thoughts/opinions in general in a beautiful way! I’ve also been loving taking photos and making sure the quality of the content I publish on the blog gets better and better with time. Hope you are enjoying growing with me!

Este foi também o ano em que o meu blog se tornou num site a sério. Tenho-lhe dedicado mais tempo e, com a ajuda do PipDig.com agora tenho um espaço a sério na internet que me permite partilhar as minhas viagens, ideias de estilo e pensamentos/opiniões no geral de uma forma mais bonita. Espero que estejam a gostar de crescer comigo!

Christmas

To close off the year, my parents, aunt and uncle, cousin and I went to our flat in Figueira da Foz and spent Christmas there. It was the most perfect weekend. We hung out together, talked, joked, cooked, exchanged presents and had a very, very ‘hyggelig’ time, just like we’d hoped. It was a great way to finish the year.

Para acabar o ano, os meus pais, tios, prima e eu fomos para o nosso apartamento na Figueira da Foz e lá passámos o Natal. Foi o fim-de-semana mais perfeito. Passámos tempo juntos, falámos, divertimo-nos, cozinhámos, trocámos presentes e tivémos uns dias muito, muito ‘hyggelig’, tal como tínhamos esperado ter. Foi uma óptima forma de acabar o ano.
