The past few weeks have been filled with wonderful family times, that have been filled with a contagious happiness. I wanted to share some memories here because I am so thankful for the brilliant (if totally bonkers) family I have, and the moments I got to spend with them recently.
As últimas semanas têm sido cheias de óptimos tempos passados em família, cheios de uma felicidade contagiante. Queria partilhar aqui algumas das memórias desses dias, porque me sinto realmente grata pela família fantástica (ainda que totalmente doida) que tenho, e pelos momentos que pude passar com eles recentemente.
Firstly, I got to take my parents out for dinner when they arrived in London. After a rather difficult year in 2015, during which my mom and dad were beyond supportive and patient with me, I really want to treat them, so I was thrilled to be able to take them out!
Primeiro, levei os meus pais a jantar fora quando chegaram a Londres. Depois de um 2015 particularmente difícil, durante o qual os meus pais foram super pacientes e um enorme apoio para mim, queria mesmo fazer algo por eles, por isso fiquei mesmo contente de lhes poder oferecer o jantar!
The next few days were spent in the North Norfolk village of Wells-next-the-sea, which is absolutely beautiful and looks straight out of a Famous Five book.
The whole family gathered there for my cousin T’s wedding, who was my very first bestie, with whom I shared most of my childhood and teenage memories, and one of the most important people in my live growing up (and beyond).
The days we spent celebrating her and her husband M, as well as exploring the village and making the most of each other’s company were absolutely perfect.
Os dias seguintes foram passados na vila de Wells-next-the-sea, em North Norfolk, que é lindíssima e parece saída de um livro d’Os Cinco.
A família juntou-se lá para o casamento da minha prima T, a minha primeira melhor amiga, com quem partilhei boa parte das minhas memórias de infância e adolescência e uma das pessoas mais importantes no meu crescimento (e mais além).
Os dias que lá passámos a celebrar a T e o marido M, bem como a explorar a vila e a aproveitar a companhia uns dos outros, foram absolutamente perfeitos!
We stayed at Bang in Wells – a bed & breakfast with the most stunning, comfy rooms – and had the whole place to ourselves as we rented the four rooms in the place!
My cousins from Reading were also up with baby V and it was so much fun to get to play with him and bond a bit more – he’s the most adorable, cute little ‘cheeky monkey’ ever.
Ficámos num bed & breakfast chamado Bang in Wells, que tinha quartos lindos e super confortáveis – para mais tínhamos tudo para nós porque alugámos os quatro quartos que o B&B tem!
Os meus primos que vivem em Reading também vieram com o bebé V e foi tão divertido poder brincar e passar mais tempo com ele – é o malandro mais giro e fofo de sempre!
The wedding itself was perfect beyond words. Absolutely idyllic and bohemian – I cried like a baby out of sheer happiness, and was super excited to see the kindness and happiness my cousin T and her husband M surrounded themselves with. Absolutely fantastic day, and I’m so happy I was there to celebrate with those two crazy kids.
O casamento em si foi indiscritível de tão perfeito. Completamente idílico e boémio – eu chorei como um bebé de pura felicidade e fiquei tão feliz de ver a amizade e felicidade que rodeiam a T e o M! Foi um dia fantástico e fiquei tão feliz de poder ter lá estado para celebrar com aqueles dois malucos.
Then back to London and we got together again to celebrate my little cousin M’s birthday. It’s always nice to get together in celebration of her, because she is the kindest, most loving and supportive person you could ever meet – and being at her house with her lovely housemates and so many of their friends was really cool! Being there as a family, chatting away and planning group holidays for next year, getting nostalgic and feeling very happy and emotional all at the same time made it all the more special.
De volta a Londres e juntámo-nos outra vez para celebrar os anos da mini prima M. É sempre óptimo juntarmo-nos para a celebrar, porque ela é a pessoa mais amável, querida e pronta a ajudar que possam conhecer – e estar em casa dela com os colegas de casa tão queridos e tantos amigos deles, foi óptimo! Estar lá com a família, a conversar e a planear férias em conjunto para o ano que vem, sentir nostalgia, felicidade e emoção tudo ao mesmo tempo tornou tudo ainda mais especial.
I’ve shared a few times that the past year has been quite eventful for me, but moments like these, sharing joy with my family, celebrating the people I love the most, really make me feel more positive, inspired and motivated for the months/years ahead!
Já disse por aqui que o ano passado foi agitado para mim, mas momentos como estes, a partilhar felicidade com a minha família e celebrar as pessoas de quem mais gosto, fazem-me sentir muito mais positiva, inspirada e motivada para os próximos tempos!
