Stranger Things had been on my radar ever since it came out on Netflix, as it generated a lot of hype and comparisons to classic 80s movies that are among my all time favourites straight away – I mean, even the poster for it is kind of a throwback to original Star Wars! After seeing a couple of snaps and a post from Daphné about it, I decided to give it a chance while on holiday, and boy am I glad I did!!
A série Stranger Things surgiu no meu radar pouco depois de ter sido lançada no Netflix, já que gerou logo boas críticas e comparações com filmes clássicos dos anos 80 que estão entre os meus preferidos – quer dizer, até o poster dá ares do original da Guerra das Estrelas! Depois de ver uns quantos snaps de bloggers que sigo e um post da Daphné que falava da série, decidi experimentar ver durante as férias – e ainda bem que o fiz!
If you haven’t yet heard about it, Stranger Things is a Netflix Original Series in the Sci-Fi/Mystery genre, starring the still absolutely brilliant (and gorgeous!) Winona Ryder along a cast of superb kids and teenagers. Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, stands out to me – for the depth and emotion she brings to the character, and consequently to the overall story.
Se ainda não ouviram falar, Stranger Things é uma série original do Netflix, do estilo ficção científica/mistério, com a genial (e lindíssima!) Winona Ryder no principal papel, acompanhada por um elenco espectacular de crianças e adolescentes. A actriz Millie Bobby Brown, que representa o papel de Eleven, destaca-se para mim – pela dimensão e emoção que traz à sua personagem, e consequentemente a toda a história.
The series is an ode to classic 80s films like The Goonies, E.T., Close Encounters, and it has all the elements that made them great: the sense of adventure mixed with innocence, danger, bravery, friendship, family, mysterious events and all of that stuff that would keep you on your toes when you were a kid, but done to a degree that will still work on adult you.
A série é uma ode a filmes clássicos dos anos 80, como Os Goonies, E.T. – O Extraterrestre ou Encontros Imediatos de Terceiro Grau e tem todos os elementos que os tornam clássicos: aventura misturada com inocência, perigo, coragem, amizade, família, acontecimentos misteriosos e todas as coisas que nos prendiam em miúdos, mas feitos de tal forma que ainda funcionam nas nossas versões adultas.
Stranger Things is 80s revival much like Super 8 was a few years back, but immensely better, and without the crappy ending (sorry JJ, I love you really, but that ending was just disappointing!). The soundtrack, the wardrobe, the conversations, expectations and behaviours are very reminiscent of that decade, while still being engaging to modern audiences – it’s a nostalgic trip in time, and it’s wonderful.
Stranger Things é um revivalismo dos anos 80 como o quis ser Super 8 há uns anos atrás, mas imensamente melhor, e sem o fim rasca (as minhas desculpas ao JJ, de quem gosto mesmo a sério, mas aquele final foi uma desilusão!). A banda sonora, o guarda-roupa, as conversas, expectativas e comportamentos fazem lembrar muito essa década, e ao mesmo tempo continuam a atrair um público moderno – é uma viagem nostálgica no tempo, e é maravilhoso.
The soundtrack is perfect, the storyline is flawless, as is the different character development through the series. I cannot wait to see where the Duffer Brothers will take this story next!!
A banda sonora é perfeita, a história é impecável, tal como é o desenvolvimento dos vários personagens ao longo da série. Não posso esperar por ver o caminho que os irmãos Duffer vão criar para esta história a seguir!
