If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (@alfacinhastory), you’ll have noticed that I’m currently in Portugal, spending two weeks with my parents, relaxing and enjoying the sunshine and the delicious food.

Although we spend most of this time in the coastal town of Figueira da Foz, we often drive to different cities in Portugal and brave the heat to learn and discover the beauty the country has to offer.
Embora passemos a maior parte do tempo na cidade costeira da Figueira da Foz, por vezes pegamos no carro e dirigimo-nos a diferentes cidades de Portugal, enfrentando o calor para aprender e descobrir a beleza que o país tem para oferecer.
Yesterday we headed to Coimbra, one of the oldest university towns in the world, which is about 30 minutes drive from here.
Ontem fomos a Coimbra, uma das cidades universitárias mais antigas do mundo, que fica mais ou menos a 30 minutos daqui.
We went to pay a visit to Quinta das Lágrimas, the setting of one of the most romantic and tragic tales of Portuguese History, that of Pedro and Inês.
Fomos visitar a Quinta das Lágrimas, o local de um dos episódios mais românticos e trágicos da História de Portugal, o de D. Pedro e D. Inês de Castro.
We then went to the Monastery of Santa Clara a Nova – where The Holy Queen Elizabeth (Rainha Santa Isabel) is buried. The monastery is very old and beautiful in its simplicity – on top of that, it has a stunning view of Coimbra across the river Mondego!
Fomos então até ao Mosteiro de Santa Clara a Nova – onde está sepultada a Rainha Santa Isabel. O mosteiro é antiquíssimo e lindo na sua simplicidade – para mais tem uma lindíssima vista de Coimbra sobre o rio Mondego!
