Se estiverem à procura de um sítio bonito e relaxante para passar um fim-de-semana, o interior português é uma óptima solução.
Last weekend I did just that. For the launch of my Dad’s book we went back to my paternal family’s hometown, Oliveira do Hospital. The town is located very near to Serra da Estrela and Serra do Açor, and is very well known for its delicious cheese and dairy products, as well as other absolutely yummy foods. Around this area you can visit the Roman Ruins of Bobadela, the shale village of Piódão, among other beautiful sights and cultural highlights of our country.
Foi o que fiz no fim-de-semana passado. Para o lançamento do livro do meu pai, ‘O Homem que Inventa Setembros’ (Ancora Editora), fomos até à terra da minha família paterna, Oliveira do Hospital. A cidade fica perto das Serras da Estrela e do Açor, numa zona famosa pela comida deliciosa e pelos seus queijos, requeijões e produtos afins. Lá perto podem visitar as Ruínas Romanas da Bobadela, a Aldeia de Xisto do Piódão, entre outros sítios lindíssimos e marcos culturais do nosso país.
We stayed at the Pousada do Convento do Desagravo, an old convent that was transformed into a beautiful hotel, with lovely, super comfy rooms. Aside from the rooms the Pousada also has a vineyard which guests are welcome to walk around on, a lovely pool, a great restaurant (where you can sample some of the delicious food I was talking about before) and very lovely, welcoming staff, some of whom I’ve known for years!!
Ficámos na Pousada do Convento do Desagravo, um antigo convento (como o nome indica…) transformado num hotel giríssimo, com quartos óptimos e super confortáveis. Para além dos quartos, a Pousada tem ainda uma vinha por onde os hóspedes podem passear, uma boa piscina, um óptimo restaurante (onde podem experimentar a tal comida deliciosa de que vos falava) e funcionários atenciosos e simpaticíssimos, alguns dos quais já conheço há anos!!
I was lucky enough to get a huge room for myself, one of the Twin Deluxe rooms. Aside from a very big living space, with comfy beds and a lot of closet space, my room also had a big bathroom (with bathtub and everything) and a beautiful terrace with a gorgeous view of the Serra do Açor.
Tive imensa sorte de ficar com um quarto enorme só para mim, um dos quartos Superiores. Para além de um quarto/zona de estar enorme, com camas confortáveis e imensa arrumação, o meu quarto tinha ainda uma boa casa-de-banho (com banheira e tudo) e um terraço grande, com uma vista espectacular pra a Serra do Açor.
The quiet that surrounds the Pousada is really calming, and the whole place is very friendly and welcoming, making you feel very much at home.
O silêncio que envolve a Pousada é mesmo relaxante e o sítio é bem simpático e acolhedor, fazendo-nos sentir em casa.
I had a super relaxing break there and would happily return soon – highly recommend it!
Tive umas óptimas mini-férias por lá e voltava de bom grado rapidamente –
