What’s in my Carry On?

The amount of times I looked through Pinterest for ‘Carry On Essentials’ over the past few months is unreal! I thought I’d share what I’m taking with me today as I am about to set off for the airport…

A quantidade de vezes que corri o Pinterest em busca de ‘Essenciais de bagagem de mão’ nos últimos meses é surreal! Pensei então partilhar o que vou levar comigo visto que estou prestes a sair para o aeroporto…

The Bag

I’m lucky to be flying with BA who allows you to take two pieces of carry on with you. I am taking my handbag, the Kate Spade Cedar Street Harmony bag, and aside from that I’m also taking my Longchamp Le Pliage bag with all my carry on equipment, entertainment, food, etc.

Tenho a sorte de ir voar com a BA (British Airways) que permite levar duas peças de bagagem de mão. Vou levar a minha mala, a Cedar Street Harmony da Kate Spade e, para além dela, levo ainda o meu saco Longchamp Le Pliage com todo o meu equipamento, entretenimento, comida, etc. para a viagem.

The entertainment

I’m currently reading and loving Joel Dicker’s ‘Le Livre des Baltimore’ and I’m nearing the exciting part of the book, so taking that on the plane is an absolute must.

‘Brooklyn’ by Colm Tóibín is also coming with me as I saw the film early this week and cannot wait to get stuck in to this!
My travel journal from Moleskine and my New York guide bought in Anthropologie are also coming in my carry on so I can go through my itinerary again.

Then there’s my iPad which has a couple of movies to keep me entertained/help me fall asleep over the 8 hour flight.

Neste momento ando a ler e a adorar o novo livro de Joël Dicker, ‘Le Livre des Baltimore’ e estou quase a chegar à parte emocionante do livro, portanto levá-lo comigo no avião é obrigatório.
Também vou levar ‘Brooklyn’ by Colm Tóibín, porque vi o filme esta semana e estou ansiosa por ler o livro!
O meu diário de viagem da Moleskine e o guia de Nova Iorque comprado na Anthropologie vêm também no saco de cabine para poder rever o meu itinerário. 
E depois levo o iPad, com dois filmes para me manter entretida/ajudar a adormecer durante o voo de 8 horas.

The paperwork

I’ve printed out all the essentials (i.e. my ESTA, Hotel Reservations, Museum tickets) and I’m taking them neatly organised in this clear pouch by Ordnung&Reda. 

In here I’ll also take my passport (in a cover that was given to me by my cousin F and it’s the cutest, most Mexican passport cover ever), boarding pass, some dollars, and vaccination card just in case.

Imprimi todos os essenciais (ou seja, o ESTA, reservas de hotel, bilhetes de museu) e vou levá-los organizados nesta bolsa da Ordnung&Reda.
Aqui dentro também levo o passaporte (numa capa que me foi dada pela minha prima F e é a capa mais gira e mais mexicana de sempre!), o cartão de embarque, alguns dólares e o boletim de vacinas, só para o caso.

The medication

This little pouch that my godmother and uncle bought for me in Vienna is ideal to take the medication I will need for the one week trip: paracetamol, ibuprofen, anti-histamine, pill – basically anything I might need while I’m there!

Esta bolsa que a minha madrinha e o meu tio me compraram em Viena é ideal para levar os medicamentos necessários para uma viagem de uma semana: benuron, brufen, anti-alérgico, pílula – basicamente tudo o que posso precisar enquanto estou de férias!

The Beauty Stuff

I haven’t been on a long haul flight in a decade, and so I want to make sure I have stuff to do so I distract myself – skincare is my plan to do this.

I have a little sample of Bioderma that I will take with me to clean my face once we’re up in the air, so that I can apply the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask that I’m planning to buy at the airport. Even on short flights my skin gets painfully dry and very unhappy, so I’m taking precautionary steps to keep it healthy!
I am also bringing my favourite eye drops, my deodorant, hand cream and a couple of products that my dermatologist prescribed to help my skin stay calm and healthy. 

I’m also going to take a moisturiser and spf with me to apply before landing, along with my Kiehls clearly corrective eye cream, my brow gel and mascara from Catrice, so that I look put together when I land on the other side of the pond.
In my little Rosie for Autograph pouch I will take a couple of spare chargers in case either my phone or my ipad run out of battery, as well as a mirror, eyelash curlers and a hairbrush.

Also essentials are my toothbrush and toothpaste, which I’m buying in duty free, so that I feel fresh when I land!

Há cerca de uma década que não faço um voo de longo curso, então quero ter a certeza que tenho coisas para fazer, para me conseguir distrair – o meu plano passa por tratar da minha pele.
Tenho uma mini amostra de Bioderma que vou levar para limpar a cara quando estivermos no ar, para poder aplicar a máscara Origins Drink Up Intensive que estou a planear comprar no aeroporto. Até em voos curtos a minha pele fica super seca e muito infeliz, então desta vez quero prevenir e mantê-la saudável!
Também levo gotas para os olhos, um desodorizante, um creme de mãos e umas pomadas que foram receitadas pela minha dermatologista para que a minha pele se mantenha calma e saudável.
Também vou levar comigo um creme hidratante e um protector solar para aplicar antes de aterrar, juntamente com o meu creme de olhos Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective, o meu Brow Gel e a minha máscara Catrice, para ter um ar mais apresentável quando chegar ao outro lado do Atlântico.
Na minha bolsa da Rosie for Autograph vou levar dois carregadores portáteis para o caso de o telemóvel ou o ipad ficarem sem bateria, e ainda um espelho, recurvador de pestanas e uma escova de cabelo.
Outros essenciais são a minha escova e pasta de dentes (quero comprar versões de viagem no aeroporto) – para me sentir mais fresca quando aterrar!

The Tech

My Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones are a must as they really block out the noise around me, something you often really need on a plane!

My camera is also coming with me, just so I ensure it is safe and in one piece. 

Os meus auscultadores Bose redutores de ruído são obrigatórios uma vez que são mesmo muito eficazes a bloquear o barulho de fundo, o que é muitas vezes preciso num avião!
A camera também vem comigo, mais para poder ter a certeza que está segura e inteira.

The Change of clothes

Just in case anything happens to my checked luggage, I am taking this little Muji packing envelope with a change of clothes: t-shirt, underwear, socks – the basics that can keep me going in case of a luggage (or even food stain!) emergency.
In it are also some leggings and travel socks that I will change into on the plane.

Só para o caso de alguma coisa acontecer à minha mala de porão, levo este envelope de viagem da Muji com uma muda de roupa: uma t-shirt, roupa interior, meias – os básicos que possa usar no caso de uma emergência.
Aqui vão também uns leggings e umas meias de viagem que vou por quando estiver no avião.

The extra bits

I’m also taking some snacks so I can avoid airport/plane food that usually doesn’t make my stomach too happy…and some gum for take off and landing! I’ll buy a big bottle of water in the airport as well, to make sure I keep hydrated.

Também vou levar comigo alguns snacks para poder evitar a comida de aeroporto/avião que normalmente não concorda muito com o meu estômago…e pastilha elástica para a descolagem e aterragem! No aeroporto vou comprar uma garrafa de água grande para garantir que me mantenho hidratada.
